Reverend Albert Warren Huyck, Jr., 93, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 in Charlotte, NC.

He is survived by his wife, Eudora LeRoy Huyck of 32 years; son Kenneth Huyck (Susie) of Inman, SC; son Charles Huyck (Maria) of Heber City, UT; son Thomas Huyck (Tracey) of Holland, MI; son Lem LeRoy (Ellen) of Waxhaw, NC; ten (10) grandchildren; six (6) great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Huyck (Lou) of Columbia, SC; and sister Margaret Perry of Columbia, SC. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sydelle Gosnell Huyck, parents Dr. A. Warren Huyck and Charlie Mae Anderson Huyck, and his sister Jean Lyles (Tom).

Born in Maysville, KY on October 6, 1932, his family moved in 1944 to Augusta, Georgia where his father served as senior pastor of the First Baptist Church. Rev. Huyck graduated from Richmond Academy in 1950 and Augusta Junior College in 1952. He continued his studies at Furman University graduating in 1954 and completed his formal education at Southeastern Theological Seminary earning a Master of Divinity in 1957.

His long tenure of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, His Savior, began officially as pastor of First Baptist Church, Royston, Georgia followed by the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro, Georgia. However, he spent the majority of his ministry in Wilkes County, Georgia. In 1974, he accepted a call from First Baptist Church, Washington, Georgia where he served as senior pastor until 1997 when he was named pastor emeritus. His tenure was the longest in the church's history dating back to its founding in 1828. He subsequently pastored Ebenezer Baptist Church at Aonia from 1997 to 2006. Even in his retirement, he continued to conduct weddings and funerals, and to preach the “Good News”, including a short season at Bethany Baptist Church, Lexington, Georgia.

He was instrumental in developing Penfield Christian Home into a part of the Georgia Baptist Convention. Over the years, he served as Chairman of Trustees for Tift College, Director of the Alumni Association of Furman University, Chairman of the Christian Index, president of the Washington Rotary Club, and Mayor of Tignall, Georgia. In 1971 he visited Israel and in 1980 he went on a short-term mission preaching throughout Japan and the Republic of China.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Albert Warren Huyck Jr. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at Washington First Baptist Church, where he faithfully served and ministered to many. A funeral service honoring his life, ministry, and deep commitment to faith will begin at 11:00 AM. Following the service, Rev. Huyck will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, South Carolina.
