Bennie Lee Hudson, a loving father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Washington, Georgia, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in the charming town of Chatsworth, Georgia, on Saturday, May 29, 1937, Bennie lived a life full of love and laughter, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting legacy.
Bennie was a man who found boundless joy in the simple yet profound pleasures of life. Widely recognized for his infectious laughter, he never missed an opportunity to brighten someone's day. His compassion extended beyond humans, as he loved his animals, always ensuring that they felt loved and tended to.
In addition to his love for laughter and animals, Bennie had a passion for cooking and baking. His kitchen was a haven where family and friends gathered, drawn by the irresistible aromas of freshly baked treats and home-cooked meals crafted with love. Beyond the kitchen, Bennie found solace in carpentry work, creating beautiful pieces that showcased his meticulous craftsmanship and creativity.
Above all, Bennie cherished his family. He found immense pleasure in the moments spent with his loved ones, creating countless memories filled with love and laughter. His family meant the world to him, and he, in turn, was their rock and guiding light.
Bennie's humble spirit and kind heart left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. His life was a testament to the beauty of caring for others, whether through loving relationships or sharing memories around the table. Bennie's legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.
Bennie spent his professional years as a manager of the Shipping Department at Medical Disposal Company in Marietta, Georgia, where he was admired for his leadership and diligence. His work ethic and unwavering commitment to excellence were hallmarks of his career.
He is survived by his sons, Marvin Hudson and wife, Sherry, of Washington, GA, and John Hudson and wife, Jackie of McKinney, TX. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren, Zackery Hudson, Lee Hudson (Mia), Breckyn Hudson Hampton (Dywane), Colby Puiia McKillop(Ben), and Tori Puiia Ward (Shane), as well as his great-grandchildren Camden Hudson (Infinity), Maddox Hudson, Landyn Hudson, Adylyn Hudson, Briggs Hampton, Wyatt McKillop, Silas Ward, Jasper Hudson, and Rori Hampton. The family rejoiced at the birth of his great-great-grandchild, Colsyn John Hudson. Bennie also leaves behind his stepchildren, Jason Marett and his wife, Karla, of Meansville, GA, and Alicia Woodham of Blairsville, GA, and their cherished children, Alaina Marett, Andrew, and Bryant Woodham.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Alice Hudson, as well as his first spouse, Cynthia Norma Jane Hudson, and second spouse, Phylis Marett Hudson.
Family and friends are invited to share in a Celebration of Life at his funeral service on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, with Dr. Phil Pilgrim and Rev. Paul Wright will officiate. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hopkins Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Bristol Hospice and all the wonderful ladies who played a crucial role in Bennie's care. Their compassion and kindness provided much comfort and peace in his final days.
