Carrol Emily Brannon, 79, of Tignall, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Piedmont Augusta Hospital.
Born on August 8, 1946, in Wilkes County, Georgia, and raised in McDuffie County, Carrol was the daughter of the late Wesley Alvin Brannon, Sr. and Ann Youmans Brannon.
Carrol began her career working for Thomson Company before pursuing a lifelong dream that reflected her caring nature. At the age of 50, she enrolled in nursing school, earning her nursing degree and dedicating herself to caring for others. She worked with the Center for Primary Care before joining Augusta GYN, where she served as a laboratory technician until her retirement.
After retirement, Carrol made her home in Tignall, where she enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and the friendships she made. She spent the last three years as a resident of Tignall Assisted Living, where she found a second family. Carrol dearly loved her Tignall Assisted Living family, and the residents and caregivers loved her in return. The friendships she formed and the love and kindness she experienced there brought her great joy and made Tignall truly feel like home.
A woman of deep faith, Carrol was a devoted member of Mallorysville Baptist Church. Her life was a reflection of kindness, perseverance, and unwavering compassion. She found joy in serving others and treasured every opportunity to spend time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Carrol was preceded in death by her sister, Annetta Norton, and her brother, Wesley Alvin Brannon, Jr.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved sons, Darryl Busbee of Sylvester, GA, and Jamie Sapp of Cadley, GA; her treasured granddaughter, Ansley Busbee of Sylvester, GA; her sister, Mary Frances Hensley (Harold); her sister-in-law, Carol Gay Brannon; her special nieces, Phyllis Saggus Dawson (Keith) and Julie Brannon Bailey (Tommy); as well as many other cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her love and friendship.
A Celebration of Life service honoring Carrol's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in the Chapel of Hopkins Funeral Home, with Reverend Barry McAvoy officiating.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Tignall Assisted Living and Piedmont Augusta Hospital for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Carrol during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mallorysville Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice in Carrol's memory.
