Catherine Aubrey Carey Flocker, 96, Washington, GA passed away peacefully at her home on September 20, 2018.Mrs. Flocker was born in Barnett, GA on August 16, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Alexander Carey and the late Myra Ledbetter Carey.She was married to the late Joseph Vincent Flocker in 1945 in the Catholic Chapel at Camp Gordon, GA.She is survived by her daughters: Cathy Carey Flocker Whitaker, Cheryl Leigh Flocker and Faye Flocker Pope, grandchildren: Joseph Whitaker (Mandy), Pembroke Pope, IV (Chrissie), Sunshine Pope McBride (Mel), and Leigh Whitaker Hantzis (John), great grandchildren: Mackenzie McBride, Sydney McBride, Luke McBride, Jackson Pope, Katie Pope, Carolyn Pope, and Baby boy Hantzis (arriving any day now), and sister, Nell Carey Adcock.Many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Flocker graduated from Washington Wilkes High School, and Moler Beauty College in Atlanta, GA.She worked as a beautician with her late sister, Mildred Carey Brown, at Mildred’s Beauty Salon, and later at Camp Gordon where she met her husband, Joe.After her marriage she continued her work as a beautician in Washington D.C.During World War II, she assisted in making bandages for the soldiers. Her greatest joy in life was time spent with her family.She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.She welcomed everyone into her home as if they were family.She had a huge heart and met everyone with a smile and “thank you”. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for more than 70 years and was active in the Altar Society into her 80s. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25 at Hopkins Funeral Home, Washington, GA.A funeral Mass will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 26 at 11:00 a.m.Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery. Pallbearers will be C.R. (Reggie) Jackson, Carl A. (Sandy) Adcock, Tommy Carey, Paul Pelt, David Jones and Andrew Brown. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1015 N.
