Charles Joseph Lombardo passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on February 10, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph John and Mary Lombardo, Charles was a resident of Washington, Georgia, where he spent his later years surrounded by family and friends.

Charles proudly served his country as an aircraft mechanic in the United States Air Force, a role that laid the foundation for his lifelong career. After his military service, he dedicated 33 years to United Airlines, where he was known for his expertise and commitment to excellence.

A man of many interests, Charles found joy in cooking, working in the garage, and being an avid reader. His love for learning and creating was evident in all that he did, and he shared these passions generously with those around him.

Charles is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Emily Jean Lombardo, and his loving children: Lauralyn Ward and her husband, Joseph, of Washington, GA; Lisanne Lombardo of Candler, NC; and Steven Charles Lombardo of Roscoe, IL. He was a proud grandfather to Amberleigh Brittany Lombardo Wade and her husband Zackrie, Shauna Nicole Ward, Evelyn Rose Marie Gauger Herrington, Taylor Renae Ward, and Michael Charles Lombardo Jr. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, twins Joseph Steven Wade and Daniel Thomas Wade.

He is also survived by his sisters, Ann "Dolly" Moynihan of Toledo, OH, and Marylyn Lombardo Jones and her husband Bruce of Des Plaines, IL. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph John Lombardo and Mary Lombardo, his son Michael Charles Lombardo, his brother Joseph C. Lombardo and his great-grandson, Seven Michael Lombardo.

In accordance with his wishes, no services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hopkins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Charles will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his work, and his passions. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
