Donald Franklin Williamson "Frank", a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Athens, Georgia, on August 5, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on October 16, 1946, he brought joy and warmth to the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Frank grew up in Washington where he laid the foundation for a life filled with loyalty and camaraderie. He was a proud graduate of Washington Wilkes High School, class of 1965, where he distinguished himself as a talented athlete, playing both varsity football and baseball. His spirit of competition and teamwork carried into other aspects of his life, reflecting his commitment to supporting his community.

Following high school, Frank served with honor in the Navy for six years, a testament to his character and sense of duty. After returning home, he dedicated himself to his family and faith, becoming a 40-year member of Green Acres Baptist Church. In this nurturing environment, he found strength and friendship that enriched his life and the lives of those around him.

Frank was also a decorated leader, having served as the VFW Post Commander in Washington Georgia. He believed deeply in fellowship and service, embodying the values that bind communities together. Beyond his commitments, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life—enjoying afternoons fishing, hunting, and cheering for Georgia football. These activities filled his days with happiness and provided cherished memories with friends and family alike.

He leaves behind his loving wife of forty-eight years, Nancy Cosby Williamson, who was his partner in life and love. Their bond was an inspiration to many. His son, Adam Williamson, carries forward his legacy, embodying the strength and kindness that his father instilled in him. He is survived by his sister, Alice Williamson Nichols, along with several nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

Frank was preceded in death by his father, William Jackson Williamson, mother, Anne Beckum Williamson, and his siblings—sisters Lorella Bailey and brothers Scott, Phil, and Tommy Williamson. Their spirits live on through the vibrant stories they shared, forever intertwined in the fabric of Donald's rich life.

A memorial service to celebrate the extraordinary life of Donald Franklin Williamson will be held on August 17, 2025, at Lord & Stephens Funeral Homes in Athens. The service will begin at 3:00 PM, with attendees invited to reflect and share memories from 2:00 PM until service time. Dr. Cameron Ford and Reverend Steven Day will be officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Green Acres Baptist Church Sr. Men's Class.

In remembering Frank, we cherish the laughter, the late-night talks, and the unwavering support he provided to his family and loved ones. His legacy of love, dedication, and service will forever remain etched in our hearts.
