Mrs. Gloria Ruth Thornton Hardy, 78, of Greensboro Rd., died June 5, 2014, at the Georgia Regents Medical Center in Augusta. Mrs. Hardy was born in Greensboro, GA, and had lived in Wilkes County for over 50 years.She was the daughter of the late Thomas G. Thornton and Ruby Blount Hardy, and was the widow of Carrol Hardy.She worked at the Royal Manufacturing Company/Delta Apparel for 34 years as a shipping clerk.She was preceded in death by a son, H. Wayne Hardy, and was a member of the Phillips Mill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 11:00 am, at the Phillips Mill Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Woods officiating.A committal service will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tracy West, Randy Shuman, Anthony Lewis, Gary Hopkins, Shelton West, and Hoyt Powers.Honorary pallbearers will be Dean McDonald, Donnie Maxwell, Jimmy Thornton, H. K. Edwards, Jr., and Len Hardy. Mrs. Hardy is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Hardy, of Washington; one son, Everett Hardy, also of Washington;one grandson, Alan Hardy; and a sister-in-law, Frances (David) Ogletree, of Washington. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7-9 at Hopkins Funeral Home.
