Mr. James E. Sherrer, 91, of Washington, died peacefully at Chesterfield General Hospital, Cheraw, SC, on April 1, 2015.He was a World War II veteran who proudly served his country in Germany, and was retired from Bi Lo. Mr. Sherrer was a member of the Tignall Baptist Church where he served as Senior Adult Sunday School teacher, deacon, and Deacon Emeritus, and was a Gideon. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Esther Sherrer. Survivors include his wife, Samille Branham Sherrer, of the home; three daughters, Dianne Butler and family, Simpsonville, SC, Edna Sherrer, Bennettsville, SC, and Deborah Coxe (Ed), of Bennettsville, SC; one son, Jimmy Sherrer (Debbie), of Raleigh, NC; two grandchildren, Jamie Sherrer, of New Bern, NC, and Nikki Sanders (Keith), Garner SC; and three great grandchildren.Also surviving are step-sons, Ray Branham and Edward Branham (Terri), and a step-daughter, Agnes Hayden (Carl). Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tignall Baptist Church in Tignall, GA, with Rev. Chris King and Rev. Denny Costner officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 at Fork Cemetery in Carlton, GA. The family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Gideons International or to the Tignall Baptist Church.
