Lawrence Carl Brown

Aug 5, 1946 — Sep 5, 2026

Lawrence Carl Brown passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of September 5, 2026, at the age of 80.

Lawrence was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, and grew up in Sharon and Raytown, Georgia. He attended Emory University for his undergraduate studies before earning his law degree from Samford University. He went on to practice law for more than 30 years as a real estate attorney, spending many of those years working closely alongside his dear colleague and friend, Joel Katz.

In his later years, Lawrence divided his time between Turkey and the United States. Over the course of his life, he pursued a range of passions, including fly fishing, traveling, and farming.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence H. Brown, who passed away when Lawrence was just 3 years old, and Erma Macfie, as well as his older sister, Mary Emma, who passed away two years ago.

Lawrence shared a wonderful 37-year marriage with Renee Parzen Brown, the mother of his three sons, Jay, Alan, and Michael. In the last 18 years of his life, he found a devoted partner in his wife, Gulendam Yenal, who cared for him deeply and was with him in his final hours.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Gulendam; his three sons, Jay, Alan, and Michael Brown; and his brothers, Thomas Macfie, Ian Macfie, and Sam Macfie.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Benjamin and Audrey Brown (children of Jay), Solomon Brown (child of Alan), and Samuel, Elijah, and Alexandra Brown (children of Michael).

Lawrence will be remembered for his sharp intelligence and his effortless charm, qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He will be deeply missed.
