Margaret Barnwell

Margaret Geneva Keene Barnwell, age 97, of Washington, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Margaret was born on November 10, 1928, in Reed, Oklahoma, to the late Raymond Franklin Keene and Geneva Irene Jones Keene. Throughout her life, she was devoted to her family and found great joy in her role as a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was truly her pride and joy, and she will be remembered for the love, kindness, and care she so freely gave to those around her.

Margaret is survived by her son, Barry Barnwell of Nacogdoches, Texas; grandchildren, Anissa Marxsen (Brent) of Washington, Rhonda Barnwell (Jesse Barkhimer) of Dallas, Texas, Darron Barnwell of Dallas, Texas, and Lee Barnwell (Brandi) of Austin, Texas; and six great-grandchildren, Clay Barnwell, Avery Barnwell, and Seth Barnwell, all of Dallas, Texas, and Maci Marxsen, Maggie Marxsen, and Janie Marxsen, all of Washington.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Judson Ernest Barnwell, and her son, Raymond Joe Barnwell.

A celebration of Margaret's life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at The Sanctuary, with Pastor Al George and Pastor Danny Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Washington-Wilkes Memorial Gardens.

Margaret's loving and generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Her memory will live on through the family she cherished and the many lives she touched.
