Patricia Ann Singleton Leard, 71, of Washington, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on February 13, 2026.
Patty was born October 23, 1954, in Atlanta, to John Henry Singleton and Dorothy Eleanor Wadlington Singleton. She graduated from Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School in 1972. On July 23, 1972, she married the love of her life, Jack Allman Leard, Jr. Together they built a loving family and were blessed with two children, Amy and Jack III.
Later in life, Patty returned to school at the University of Georgia, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 1994 and her Master’s degree in the same field in 1996. She devoted much of her professional career to serving students in the Wilkes County School System as a Speech-Language Pathologist, where she made a lasting difference in the lives of countless children and families.
Patty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Allman Leard, Jr.; her mother, Dorothy Eleanor Wadlington Singleton; and her father, John Henry Singleton.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy Leard Echols and husband Chris; her son, Jack Allman Leard, III and wife Laura; her grandchildren, Bailey Sawyer and husband Josh, Caitlin Leard, Jake Echols, Kelsey Leard, and Kinsley Leard; her great-grandchildren, Lillian Sawyer and Hallie Sawyer; her sisters, Eleanor Harrison, Adele Seymour, and Miriam Kitchens; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish her memory.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to The Tignall House, Amy Karamihalis, Bristol Hospice, Dr. Kirk Dodson, and everyone who cared for and loved Patty. Your kindness, compassion, and support during this time brought comfort and warmth to our hearts, and we will always be grateful.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Hopkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Chris Townsend officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
