Ms. Pauline Carol Burt, 76, of Brunswick, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 8, 2019, at the Southeast Medical Center in Brunswick. She was born in Washington on December 28, 1942. Carol, aka Moon, was known as a beautiful, kind, and loving person. She was the daughter of the late Addison M. and Louise Dunnaway Burt.She graduated from Washington-Wilkes High School, where she excelled at tennis.She graduated from Wesleyan in 1964 and from the University of Georgia in 1969 with a Master’s Degree in Accounting.She was immediately hired by the accounting firm Haskins & Sells in 1969 where she worked as a CPA, later taking a job as Comptroller at Fulton Federal Savings and Loan, also in Atlanta.She simultaneously became a co-owner and then owner of Gregory’s Restaurant in Atlanta until moving to St. Simon’s in the early ‘80s where she opened Gregory’s Restaurant in Redfern Village. Though retiring from the restaurant business in the mid-80s, she continued to do tax returns until her death.She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Martha Lavenia Burt Henderson; maternal grandparents, Raymond Dunnaway and Martha Turpin Dunnaway; and paternal grandparents, Paul Burt and Dinah Moore Burt. Carol is survived by her two nephews, Addison Burt Goolsby (Lynn), and Barry Wayne Goolsby (Cindy), both of Washington; one aunt, Bonnie D. Brown (Troy), of Washington; two uncles, Tom Dunnaway (Regina), and Alex Dunnaway, both of Washington; and by many great nephews and great nieces,and by a large number of cousins. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel in Washington, Ga.Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 until the time of the service. Pallbearers will be Tim Brown, Ty McGill, Wade Dunnaway, Dan Durham, James Walton, Allen Burton, and Addison “Buddy” Simpson. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Wesleyan College, 4760 Forsyth Rd., Macon, GA31210, or to the Mt.
