Mr. Robert Allen “Bobby” Lamar, 62, of Washington, died April 2, 2012 in University Hospital.A native of Wilkes County, he was the son of the late, Drew Cade Lamar, Jr. and the late Elizabeth “Coobie” Porterfield Lamar.Mr. Lamar had lived in Wilkes County all of his life and worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry.He was Vice President of the Kettle Creek Rifle and Pistol Club. and had been a foster parent to over fifty children. Graveside services will be Thursday, April 5th at 11:00am in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jim Newsome officiating.Duane Callaway, Mike Sherrer, David Cooper, Bob Haughey, Levi Nunn and Charlie Shelton will serve as pallbearers.Serving as honorary pallbearers will be David Wideman, Tracy Armour, Thomas Poss, Dennis Bufford, Corey Hopkins, Bob Guinn, Dr. Les Sales, Billy Godwin and members of the Kettle Creek Rifle and Pistol Club. Survivors include his wife of twenty years, Judy Shearer Lamar; four sons, Kevin (Tiffany)Lamar, Washington, Robert Fritz, Cincinatti, Ohio, Jacob Long, Washington and Adam Long, Washington; six daughters, Casie Lamar, Tignall, Casey Young, Thomson, Kimberly(Corey)Hopkins, Washington, Tiffany Lamar, Washington, Hailey Lamar, Washington and Dusti Long, Washington;and fourteen grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7-9pm at the funeral home.
