Mr. James Otis Callaway

November 3, 1949 - January 24, 2014

Mr. James Callaway, 64, of Washington, died January 24, 2014. A native of Washington, he was the son of the late Priscilla Nunn Callaway. He was retired as the Director of Transportation for Wilkes County Board of Education after 34 years of service. Mr. Callaway was a member of Victory Baptist Church, The Rotary Club and Wilkes County Cattleman’s Association. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00am in Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Tom Callaway, Justin Callaway, Brian Callaway, Greg Callaway, Melvin Johnson and Bubba Blackmon will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Callaway; two sons, Dennis Callaway (Paula) of Lincolnton and Sam Callaway (Tanya) of Lincolnton; two step-sons, Jason Williamson and Chris Williamson (Shawna) both of Washington; three step-daughters, Dania Hollis (Shawn) of Hull, Lee Blue of Sandersville, and Margie Adams of Sandersville; two sisters, Phyllis Adams of Dearing and Debbie Vincent (Leo) of Martinez; and thirteen grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the church Monday from 10:00am to 11:00am.
