Mr. Joseph Wayne Madden

December 17, 1941 - October 23, 2014

Mr. Joseph Wayne Madden, 72, of Washington, passed away October 23, 2014. A native of Elbert county, he was the son of the late, Joseph Claude and Jewel Mills Madden. He was a local businessman who owned and operated Compuway, Inc. and later M&M/CSRA Office Products which has been in business for nearly 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Washington, where he was a member of The Friendship Sunday School Class and he was a Gideon. Mr. Madden was also a member of The Kiwanis Club and The Washington Jaycees. Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 27th at 11:00am in the First Baptist Church of Washington. Noah Madden, Will Souther, Mauricio Maldonado, Shane Hopkins, Caleb Norman, Bryson Norman and Melvin Edwards will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Friendship Sunday School Class and Kiwanis Club will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will be in The Washington-Wilkes Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Nancy Smith Madden; one son and daughter in law, Kevin and Alicia Madden, of Washington; one daughter and son in law, Carol and Frank Souther, of Washington; four grandchildren, Will and Leslie Souther and Noah and Taylor Madden; brothers, Bill (Jean) Madden of Danielsville, George Frank (Jane) Madden of Elberton, Byron (Linda) Madden, of Carrollton, Russell (Shelia) Madden, of Elberton; one sister Amy Seagers, of Dewey Rose. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:30 – 8:30pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The First Baptist Church of Washington, P.O. Box 603, Washington, GA 30673.
