Mrs. Mary Jackson Vandiver

May 10, 1934 - July 5, 2021

Mrs. Mary Jackson Vandiver, 87, entered into rest Monday, July 5, 2021, at the Tignall House Personal Care Home. Mrs. Vandiver was born in Wilkes County, was the daughter of the late Robert Oscar Jackson and Annie Kate Powell Jackson, and was the widow of Claud W. (C.W.) Vandiver. She was a homemaker for most of her life, and was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Mrs. Vandiver was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie J. Crawford, and by a brother, Robert Jackson. She is survived by two daughters, Angela Vandiver Nicholson, and husband Eric, of Washington, and Janice Lynne Vandiver, also of Washington; two grandsons, Jonathan Atwood Nicholson and W. Brent Silvey (Ashley), both of Washington; two great grandchildren, Tyler Silvey and Gabriella Silvey, both of Washington; three sisters, Jo J. Crawford (Melvin), of Rayle, Faye J. Saggus, of Lincolnton, and Florence J. McCorkle, (G.C.), of Thomson; and one brother, John Frank Jackson, of Washington. Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, July 8, 2021, at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Hospice Chaplain Ken Reed officiating. Interment will follow at the Washington-Wilkes Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, July 7, 2021, from 6-8pm at Hopkins Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Nicholson, Brent Silvey, Donnie Crawford, David Crawford, Chess McCorkle, and Tim McCorkle. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, c/o Wade Dunnaway, 1137 Big Cedar Rd., Washington, GA 30673. Hopkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
